"Ballroom Blitz" by oh, everyone

Oh, everyone is not a band. That means that every band ever has done a cover of this song, but does not make it any less awesome. I love it. Every time.

For those of you who don't know "Ballroom Blitz," it's the song Tia Carrere sings at the end of Wayne's World.

Well it's pretty much awesome, I also happen to know the words to this one, and you can check it out. Every single version. The version I have is sweeter than the one listed below, but I have no idea who sings the one I have....

"It's the End of the World As We Know It" by R.E.M

Anyone who has been around me in recent history knows that I have made it my mission to learn the words to this song. Needless to say, that would be impossible if I hadn't downloaded it this morning. Crazy right? Why on Earth did I not have this song downloaded yet?

Well, there's not much more to say, but everyone should, for Pete's sake, have this song on their iTunes. I mean, it is soooo fun to try and sing along. It's a challenge. And what's the point of listening to something you understand.

I've known "We Didn't Start the Fire" for years (wanna try me?) so I'm uppin the ante a lil bit. I will let you know when you can dare me to sing it at a karaoke bar.

"Paper Planes" by MIA

You will recognize this song as the one in the Pineapple Express trailers. And ever since I first heard it, I thought, I HAVE TO FIND THAT SONG. Well I did, and it's not my typical genre, but I don't really get sick of it.

It's a little gangsta, but totally sang by a random chick, which kind of cancels out the gangsta bit. The gun shots in the middle of the song don't, however.

Well, check it out already.

"Never Been to Spain" by Three Dog Night

Gosh, I cannot get enough of this song. I mean really. I can't.

Well we all know I love me some oldies, but this song is like AMAZING to croon to.

Aside from that, it's not one of the most famous of Three Dog Night songs - at least not to those of us who weren't around to hear it in the first place. And I like never hear this one on the radio, so I'm just assuming.

Aside from that, we also know how much I love me some amazing guitar riffs - and that there are in this one. Just listen, and love.

In the news....

Sorry, I just have to say that I saw Ryan Cabrera on The View yesterday, and Yuck! Not that he was ever that good-looking in the first place, but he looks pretty sleazy. I guess I don't care if the music's all right - I never care if the music is all right.

In other music news, Neil Diamond will play in Omaha in a few weeks, and I will be DAMNED if I don't find a way to make it there.

"Dance the Night Away" by Van Halen

You're probably starting to realize that my music spectrum is like all the colors of the rainbow. Anyways, I can't help but love this song.

The beginning is what really gets me - the opening cow bell and guitar riff kill me. I find myself humming that bit days on end.

The chorus is equally catchy. I love it all, and you should too, mon frere.

"Somebody's Cryin" by Chris Isaak

Chris Isaak was a little before my time, but I'm still into a lot of his stuff. This is a particular favorite, because I guess it's something I've wondered about before.

The song begins:
"I know somebody and they cry for you
They lie awake and then dream of you
I'll bet you never even know they do, but
Somebody's cryin"

You know awful quote from junior high - "To the entire world you may be one person, but to one person you may be the world" - I hate that quote, but so help me, this song sums it up.

It's always a little inspiring to know that, just perhaps, there's someone out there who is crazy about you, even if you'll never know it.

Good stuff. Check it out.
